Built from the Industry
Founded in 2014 by Anita Walicki, RAW (Recrutement Anita Walicki) was created to cater to Montreal’s real estate and construction industries with an expert niche recruitment consultancy, which far surpasses the capacity of global or generalist agencies. The name RAW represents the fusion of its founder’s initials and a philosophy of direct, results-driven execution.
RAW is rooted in a multi-generational connection to real estate.
Anita’s career in the sector began through her father’s involvement in the field, and today she works alongside her daughter Katya, who followed a similar path after first gaining experience within the industry.
Anita Walicki
Anita’s professional journey began in 1981 as a McGill Civil Engineering graduate. With a looming recession and self admittedly ill-fitted to long days of design-by-spec, by 1983 she pivoted to managing corporate real estate. For the next 25 years she specialized in executing massive turnarounds of many of Montreal’s iconic real estate projects, including the giant LaCité complex, the Olympic Village, and the iconic 3,100-unit Metropolitan Structures residential and mixed-use project which put on Nuns’ Island on the map with signature Mies van der Rohe architecture.
As an object of various headhunting firms, as well as a user of recruitment agency services, Anita quickly recognized a need for a local, industry-specific recruiter who actually understood the real estate professional landscape. She entered the recruitment industry eager to learn, and after six successful years leading real estate divisions for global market leaders, in 2014 she founded RAW. She brings to the table 40 years’ worth of first-hand experience, involvement and understanding of Montreal’s real estate and construction ecosystem, and is recognized as a true expert in recruiting to the industry.
Katya Mohsen
Katya joined RAW in 2019 with a vision to bridge the gap to the next generation of industry leadership. Like Anita, she built her foundation from within the industry, working in property management and real estate development before evolving into recruitment.
A graduate of the John Molson School of Business, Katya specializes in mid-market to C-suite mandates across real estate investment, development, operations and more. Her multidisciplinary background allows her to assess cultural and operational fit beyond surface-level interviews. Well connected in the city, Katya leverages her strong personal and professional networks to connect firms with the high-potential talent that will shape Montreal’s future skyline.
